The Nigerian Army is gearing up to tackle terr0rism head-on, with over 50,000 soldiers set to be deployed to the North West and North East regions. This move comes as part of the country's ongoing efforts to comb@t insurgency and restore peace.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, announced the deployment, highlighting the troops' involvement in various peacekeeping operations nationwide, including counter-terr0rism efforts in the North East and separatist operations in the South East.
The Nigerian Army has already recorded significant successes in its counter-terr0rism operations, neutralizing several insurgents, arresting suspects, and rescuing kidnapped victims. Operations like "Operation Secure Main Supply Route" and "Operation Forest Sanity" have been effective in clearing critical hideouts and seizing logistical hubs used by terr0rists.
The army's efforts have led to the neutralization of key terr0rist commanders, including Yusuf Yellow, Halilu Sububu, and Bako Wurgi, among others. The troops have also recovered arms, ammunition, and vehicles, and destroyed several insurgent camps.
The deployment is expected to further strengthen security in the region and bring an end to the terr0rist menace.
