My father was abducted in Anambra State over issues where he worked as a mortuary attendant. He was accused falsely and was asked by the man who accused him that they needed to go somewhere and look into the mirror to ascertain if my father was innocent.
My father, since he had nothing to fear, agreed to follow them, not knowing they had arranged with Tiger base to pick up my father and k¡ll him without a trace. The luck my father had was that he begged one of his kinsmen to follow him to the place. On getting to Mgbidi junction as instructed, a mini bus with plain police men alighted and told my dad to follow them that the other people were already at the place.
My father never knew the people who accused him falsely had paid Tiger base #200k to k¡ll my father.
My dad said they took them to Tiger base, and the luck he had was that he came with his kinsman. Both were detained. When Commander Ola saw them, he asked that my father's kinsman should be released since he is not part of the case. They warned him not to mention anything to anyone. The man came back and informed us. We had to make calls, went there with our lawyer, and they denied nobody bears that name. We had to contact a senior police officer who accompanied the lawyer before they admitted my father was in their detention camp.
We were asked to pay #1 million for bail after 7 days in detention.
They don't accept transfers. You must come with cash.
Even after you pay to bail your person, you must drop money for drinks for the officers. Pay to security men at the gate. Every table you get to is an extortion centre. And you have no choice.
My dad told us the experience inside the tiger base cell is not what you wish, even your enemy.
People die of suffocation.
Innocent people about 3 or 4 are brought out of the cell almost every morning by 4am, and you will hear gun shots and cries. Next minute, everywhere will be silent. Before 6 a.m., hilux vehicle will drive in and carry their dead bodies out. They will use sand and cover the blood. They k¡ll people at will and dispose of their bodies without their families knowing. I was surprised watching the video where the commander said they don't detain people. That place is an abattoir where human beings are wa.sted.
I'm ready to bring my father to any panel of enquiry set up to come testify.
