Pray for Nigeria

"Go and get jǔjų to protect yourselves from bandits, or I'll chase you out" – Pastor tells his church members

A TikTok video that has blown up across Nigeria shows a pastor in a purple robe telling his congregation point-blank: prayer alone is not enough; they must “fortify” themselves against bandits and kidnappers, or get out of his church.
The man, who introduces himself as Pastor Oloruntimilehin Daramola, founder of The Omnipotence Mission of God, posted the clip on his verified page @kingbosoro on 24 November 2025. Dressed in a flowing purple outfit and a large cross necklace, he speaks with the kind of urgency that only weeks of fresh church attacks and school kidnappings can produce.
His message is blunt: “You people should go and do something that will protect you. If armed men come to your area with guns, let the guns turn against them and they shoot themselves. Or keep bees that will chase them away. Or do something so that before they even reach your church, they drop dead.
All my members must do it. If I tell you to do it and you refuse, I will chase you out of this ministry, because I am a good shepherd. I cannot watch my children die.”
He tells the congregation he has already “fortified” himself and his own family, and he refuses to stay protected while his members remain exposed.

To drive the point home, he reminds them of real attacks: “When they entered the church in Owo, people were shouting ‘Jesus! Jesus!’ Jesus could have saved them, but Jesus told them, ‘See you in heaven.’ Same thing in Kaduna. Calling Jesus did not stop the bullets. So go and be fortified!”
He even suggests the government should allow every Nigerian to own a gun and wonders aloud whether the country should peacefully split if the 1914 amalgamation is no longer working.
Then he dares his critics: “They will say, ‘That pastor that is teaching people charms.’ Call me whatever you like. I don’t care. If you put me on the ground, I will bite you.”
The video has already crossed 5 million views in less than 24 hours. Nigerians are reacting in every possible direction:
▪️Some are laughing and turning it into memes: “New church name loading: Fortified Ministries International.”
▪️Some are angry: “This one has finished reading Bible and started reading native doctor manual.”
▪️Others are quietly agreeing: “When government and police fail, what do you expect people to do? Even pastors are now tired.”
As over 250 school children remain in captivity in Niger State and fresh kidnapping videos keep appearing online, the pastor’s outburst (whether you call it heresy or hard truth) has touched a raw nerve.
Many are asking the same uncomfortable question: When churches are no longer safe and calling the name of Jesus is no longer stopping bullets, what exactly are believers supposed to do?
