Fresh Report Raises Alarm Over 6,000 Missing Judeo_Christain Igbo Sons and Daughters Under Nigerian Military Operations as Families Seek Answers in South-East
A fresh report by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), in collaboration with the U.S.-based Ekwenche Research Institute, has raised concerns over the alleged disappearance of more than 6,000 Igbo sons and daughters linked to Nigerian military and security operations between January 2021 and July 2026.
According to the report, thousands of families across the South-East have been unable to establish the whereabouts or fate of their relatives who reportedly disappeared during security operations in the region.

The organisations further alleged that more than 400 people were abducted, controversially classified or remained unaccounted for between January and July 2026 alone.
The report also alleged cases of shootings, unlawful killings, secret detention, extrajudicial killings, discriminatory law enforcement and controversial trials.
It specifically raised concerns about the detention of suspects at WAWA Military Cantonment and other custodial facilities in Northern Nigeria, claiming that some families have been unable to obtain clear information about the whereabouts or legal status of their relatives.
The organisations further estimated that thousands of Judeo-Christian lives have been lost since April 2016 in attacks they attributed to jihadist Fulani herdsmen, while alleging that about 200 people were ambushed, abducted or killed on roads and in forests between January and July 2026.
Meanwhile, affected families are continuing to seek answers and clarification regarding the whereabouts and fate of their missing relatives.
