Residents of Ezimo and neighboring Obollo-Eke in Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State, are grappling with rising insecurity following violent attacks by armed kidnappers over the weekend. Several women were shot, and multiple residents were abducted in separate incidents that have left the communities on edge.

Saturday’s assault in Ezimo, the hometown of Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, took place near a military checkpoint along the Ikem–Obollo-Afor federal road. Despite the presence of security forces, attackers moved freely, targeting vehicles and snatching victims before retreating through bush paths toward Benue State.
Eyewitnesses recounted scenes of panic, with women injured and vehicles damaged by gunfire. Marcel Ossia, a local resident, described the recurring violence as “a daily nightmare,” expressing frustration over the lack of effective government intervention.
