Insecurity: “Non-Kinetic Approach Is a Free Pass for Killers” — Abaribe Blasts FG for Turning Nigeria Into a Playground for Criminals
Abia South Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has condemned the Federal Government’s so-called “non-kinetic approach” to insecurity, describing it as nothing more than an open invitation for criminals to return and commit even worse atrocities across the country.
Speaking during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television, Abaribe said the policy is not only weak but dangerous — a strategy that emboldens terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers instead of stopping them.
The APGA senator, visibly angered, said his frustration reflected the “righteous anger” of millions of Nigerians who feel abandoned and betrayed by a government that chooses appeasement over decisive action.
According to him, communities across Nigeria consistently report suspicious movements to security agencies — yet these same security agents “vanish” before attacks and only reappear after blood has already been spilled.
Abaribe questioned what he described as a disturbing pattern of collusion.
“Villagers repeatedly say they alert security agents, but these agents disappear — and return only after the bandits have carried out their attack. How does a government operate like this?” he asked.
He dismissed the “non-kinetic approach” as a deceitful name for rewarding terrorists, insisting that paying or pacifying violent criminals only guarantees more chaos.
“Calling it non-kinetic is just a fancy way of paying criminals to regroup and return with more firepower,” he said.
“You are literally enabling them to come back tomorrow and do something worse.”
Abaribe expressed disbelief that an army with a proud history of enforcing peace in foreign missions now appears paralyzed and helpless within its own borders.
He said the Nigerian military, once respected globally, is now being portrayed as incapable of defending its own citizens — a situation he called unacceptable, shameful, and dangerous.
The senator’s remarks echo the growing national outrage that the government’s weak response to insecurity is pushing Nigeria into deeper chaos, leaving communities defenseless while criminals tighten their grip on the country.
