Nine Christian men from Libya along with a Christian woman and man from Pakistan were sentenced to prison for “insulting Islam and calling for the establishment of a banned group. They also faced charges of apostasy for converting from Islam.”
News of their prison sentences ranging from 3 to 15 years shocked the small Libyan Christian community.
Heavenly Father, we pray for these 11 believers who have been given long prison sentences in terrible conditions for leaving Islam to follow the Lord Jesus. We don’t know their names but You do. May the Holy Spirit bring them comfort in their suffering. Protect them from harm. Keep their faith strong. May their cases be revisited and grant them favor before the authorities. May they be released soon so they don’t have to endure a life in prison.
Use them for Your glory among the other prisoners. Inspire the small Christian community in Libya to remain strong in their faith knowing that You are sovereign over all their lives and future. In Your great name we pray. Amen.
“Remember me, O Lord, in Your favor toward Your people; Visit me with Your salvation...” – Psalm 106:4
