Terrorists Vow Revenge on Kaduna Village After Nigerian Soldiers Kill Two Bandits and Grab AK-47, and Cash of 1.8Millon
Armed terrorists have warned they will attack a quiet farming village in Kaduna State as payback for a military raid that killed two of their fighters and took their weapons and money. The threat comes just days after soldiers stopped a kidnapping plot and saved villagers from harm.
The trouble started on November 29 in Ungwan Nungu, a small community in Sanga Local Government Area, southern Kaduna. That's when a group of terrorists – often called bandits in Nigeria – grabbed 10 people from their farms. Six were women, and four were men. These attacks on farmers are getting more common in the area, where bad guys hide in forests and steal people for ransom money.
But the army stepped in fast. On Friday, troops from the Nigerian Army got a tip about the kidnappers trying to pick up cash from the families. The soldiers ambushed the gang during the handover. In the fight, they shot and killed two terrorists. They also took back an AK-47 rifle, one bullet for a 9mm gun, and about 1.6 million naira – that's around $1,000 USD, money the bandits wanted as payment to free the hostages.
The 10 kidnapped people were all let go without paying, thanks to the quick action by the troops. No one from the village got hurt in the raid.
Now, the surviving terrorists are angry. They sent an audio message to the community leaders. In it, a man speaking for the group says the villagers "betrayed" them by telling the army where they were. "We thank you for what you have done to us. Is that why you sent soldiers?" he said in the recording. He swore by God: "Everything the soldiers did to us, we shall repay. If we are still alive, we will definitely retaliate."
The voice also demands the village pay for the lost AK-47 rifle. He warns that after the group "regroups," they will come back with big attacks on homes and farms if the money isn't given. Community members say they are scared and staying inside, but many worry about their crops and safety.
Kaduna State has seen a lot of these problems for years. Terrorist groups like Boko Haram and local bandits often raid villages, kidnap people, and fight the army. Just last month, similar attacks killed five in another southern Kaduna town. The government has sent more troops and promised help, but locals say they need better roads, lights, and faster police response to feel safe.
The army says it is watching the area closely and will protect the people. "We will not let these criminals win," a military spokesperson told reporters today. No one has been hurt yet from the new threat, but families in Ungwan Nungu are on high alert.
