Being Igbo is more than speaking a language or coming from the East. It is strength, resilience, hard work, survival, culture, and carrying history in our hearts. We are a people who know how to rise after falling, how to build after losing, and how to keep moving no matter the storm.
As an Igbo person, May 30th is not just an ordinary day. It is a day that reminds us of our history, the Biafra children who never got the chance to grow.
Many of us did not witness those painful days, but we grew up hearing the stories. Stories of survival, Stories that remind us where we come from and why the Igbo spirit can never easily be broken.
Being Igbo means carrying pride in our identity, honoring our roots, and remembering those who came before us. It means refusing to let history be forgotten.
Today, we remember the fallen. We remember the sacrifices. We remember the strength of our people. And above all, I remain proud to be Igbo a people known for resilience, courage, wisdom, and the ability to rise again no matter what.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
