More than 180 Christian families across 32 villages in India’s Chhattisgarh state have reportedly been denied access to communal water sources, jobs, and forest produce for three weeks.
Community leaders say the pressure is aimed at forcing believers to abandon Christianity and take part in reconversion programs.
Some families were barred from using hand pumps, taps, ponds, and rivers, while others were denied government labor work or excluded from collecting and selling forest products that help support their households.
Christian groups have filed complaints with district officials and police as the affected families continue facing hardship.
The case has raised serious concern over religious freedom and the growing pressure on Christian communities in parts of India.
