'Rise up and defend your communities' - American missionary, Alex Babir urges Plateau youths
A young American missionary and pastor, Alex Babir, has called on youths in Plateau State to rise up and defend their communities against Islamist extremists, terrorist sects and Fulani bandits from vicious and violent attacks which have led to mass killings and destruction of rural areas in the state.
Babir who is the founder of a humanitarian organization, the "Building Zion Foundation" which has been directly involved in rebuilding communities destroyed by terrorist attacks in Plateau and Benue States, gave the admonition when he attended the mass burial of seven young miners who were killed by Fulani militias last week at a mining site in Kuru in Jos South local government area of the state, said categorically that the onus is now on the youths to defend their communities against the incessant attacks by bandits and terrorists.
While addressing the crowd during the mass burial of the youths conducted by the Barkin Ladi Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN), Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, an emotional Babir who flew in from his base in Tampa, Florida, USA, said he was saddened that young people were being killed by terrorists and bandits but they keep expecting the government and security agencies to come to their aid instead of doing the needful by defending their vulnerable people.
"Prepare to defend your community and your villages," Babir said
