Authorities in Adamawa State have confirmed the interception of two trailer trucks conveying approximately 550 travelers at the Numan Bridge on Tuesday.
The vehicles, identified as NNY 236 XA (Yobe) and GAS 330 XA (Taraba), were stopped for security checks. Eyewitnesses said that after profiling, about half of the travelers were discovered to be from Maradi in the Niger Republic, while the rest were from Yobe and Katsina States.
Security officials noted that the passengers were unable to provide a clear explanation for their mass movement, heightening concerns among law-enforcement agencies.
A combined team comprising the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Police, and the Military subsequently escorted the group back to the Adamawa–Gombe boundary, directing them to return to their points of origin pending further clarification.
Authorities commended the swift response of the Police Commissioner, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Immigration Service in safeguarding the state.
