And The Benue State Governor Could Say Nothing, He Sat Through The Meeting Meek And Awed As A Goat Among Hyenas
At their recent meeting at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna, the 19 Northern Governors and the region’s Traditional Rulers rose to issue a communique, the key points of which included "condolences to states affected by killings, kidnappings, and Boko Haram attacks, including Kebbi, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kano, Borno, and Yobe."
Benue State was conspicuously and shockingly excluded from something as simple as a condolence message.
Yet at the same meeting, Governor Hyacinth Alia committed the state and its resources to the tune of N1 billion monthly to a so-called Northern Security Trust Fund which it is said will be used to fight insecurity in the 19 states.
Pray, how did Benue not qualify for the condolence message; Benue, where only recently, about 300 innocent souls were massacred at Yelewata?
Benue which has been the focal reason the international community, led by the USA, had designated Nigeria a "Country of Particular Concern" over genocide?
If Benue did not qualify for something as basic as a condolence message, is it security that the north, dominated by governors and traditional leaders of Fulani ethnic extraction will guarantee the state?
If Alia could sit as meekly as he did at that meeting and couldn't have Benue included in the condolence message, will he have a voice in how the so-called Security Trust Fund will be utilized?
That is why every right thinking Benue man, woman and child must raise their voices to say NO! to Benue's inclusion in the so-called Northern Security Trust Fund.
It is an arrangement under the control of the same people who have been killing us.
Trusting the current Fulani dominated North to protect us is like chickens trusting the fox to protect them.
