The average Islamic preacher in Nigeria has either a degree or a master's degree, and many renowned ones even have a PhD. This also applies to the politicians who are ruling most northern states. But you hardly see them preaching or advocating hard for people to seek education.
Do you want to know why? Many of them understand that education liberates the mind and would make them ask questions, and for them to keep manipulating and controlling them, they hardly push them to study.
I'm not talking only about Western education but generally about knowledge seeking. Even when it comes to religious knowledge, they limit them to only what they taught them. This is the sad reality of the North when it comes to knowledge seeking.
