They are killing us… but don’t want us to talk.

They are killing us… but don’t want us to talk.

The moment you speak, they label you “you’re spreading lies,” “you’re promoting violence.” So what do they want? Silence? So it can keep happening quietly? Arewa mu falka.
This is not what you see in movies.
Gunshots are not sound effects.

They don’t pause. They don’t give warnings. They don’t care who you are or what you believe.
If you’ve never heard bullets tear through the night, if you’ve never had to lie flat on the ground wondering if the next sound is your last, you’ll think we're exaggerating. We’re not.
This is slowly becoming a lifestyle here in the North and that’s the painful truth nobody wants to accept. Waking up to news of fresh attacks, sleeping with one eye open, calling loved ones just to be sure they’re still alive.
And when we talk, we’re told to calm down.
How do you stay calm when people are being buried almost every week? How do you stay silent when fear is knocking on every door?
Pray you never experience this.
Pray it never gets to your doorstep.
But don’t silence us who are living it.
